Sandrover

I’d wanted a Land Rover Discovery ever since I rode in those rear jump seats during the early 1990‘s. In early 2016, a turn of events in my life led that dream into a reality.

I purchased my Chawton White 2005 LR3 (colloquially known as Discovery in rest of world) HSE HD in 2016 secondhand. The previous owner was an Arizona Doctor who kept the vehicle on pavement and in a garage for its first 100,000 miles. I promised to myself to keep it off-pavement as much as I could for the next 100,000.

I promptly took it to the Old Dale Mine Road within the first few days of owning it… highway tires and all; handled like a champ.

From that moment on I embarked to build my dream truck. Living in the Mojave Desert, I was grateful to be surrounded by Joshua Tree National Park and Anza Borrego State Park, where the Sandrover would cut its teeth.

We initially set forth planning to explore not only the American Southwest, but also the entirety of the Pan-American Highway, however, as the best laid plans often do… they shifted.

Instead, we explored Utah, other parts of Southern California, into Arizona, and Texas… and we’re just getting started.

Here is a small gallery of the Sandrover’s timeline from picking it up off of the lot to the present day.

I do hope whether you’re an adventurer, historian, gearhead, survivalist, Land Rover enthusiast, or a little bit of all of the above that you enjoy this page, the vehicle, and the overarching intent of ‘Being a Good Dude’.
